We have observed that scheduling C-17 squadron aircrew is overly time-consuming, manually intensive and increases the chance of human errors, causing unpredictability, and poor work-life balance. It also causes missed training opportunities, and ultimately inefficient use of resources. Our goal is to optimize short-term decisions while taking into account long-term second & third-order effects, ultimately decreasing the time required to prepare schedules, increasing the predictability for increased mission effectiveness.
WHAT IS PUCKBOARD:
Puckboard is a modern scheduling website that enables real time, collaborative scheduling, from anywhere in the world. Puckboard focuses on creating a great user experience for schedulers and crew members while automating time consuming tasks. The Puckboard project is led by a team of Airmen from TRON, a DoD software factory. TRON has partnered with the USAF/MIT AI Accelerator, Kessel Run Wing Operations Branch, and the Chief Data Office to incorporate lessons learned from this CDO Datathon into Puckboard.
Primary: Optimized process to wrangle ARMS data for use in Puckboard
Stretch: Associate what actually happened (ARMS) with planned events in Puckboard
Teams will be asked to associate people and events through model development; identify trends, correlations, or utilization rates from flight events & schedules.
